  • This is why no major media companies have successfully built any social media services. They really struggle to build character and personality into soc nets - e.g. MTV Flux etc
  • It may well come down to a founders' personality in launching the business as it will be he or she that is taking the product out on the road and show casing. Ultimately, though, it is the quality of design of the product, the ease of use and what the site is offering as valuable content that will decide whether it has a future. No website can be static- it is evolving and dynamic and has to learn to understand its users and their requirements.
  • I think all these things are important Nick. Success is tough to achieve and as well as personality design quality and high value evolving content will be critical.
