The Equity Kicker: BTVision and a look at how close we are to tomorrows webTV world

Couldn't agree more - Mediatech was a great day yesterday and the developments we're seeing around IPTV, TV on demand are exciting. The role that social networking can play in guiding viewing selection is an obvious area for development - we're going to see a lot more in this space.

BT VIsion is the most confusing product that BT have launched in many years. Combine this with BT's inability to market products to consumers and I predict a disaster. I see it costs 49p to view a music video, who on earth is going to do that when there are 30 free music channels on Sky and I can see almost any music video for free on YouTube?

As I mentioned before Nic, Apple will lauch their iTV box in 2007, providing a proper connection between content on your computer and TV.

I agree, the way BT are thinking about pricing doesn't bode well for the success of their service.

Apple might be an enabler for true IPTV happening sooner rather than later. I had lunch with someone yesterday who had just moved house and was considering buying a Mac Mini instead of a PVR.

I got a call from BT Vision and found out that you have to have a windows PC to get the system installed. As a mac user this is very frustrating - I thought I could just get the V Box and be OK - seemingly not!
